My friends and I have a word for violations of Fitts' law. We call it "pixel spearing". It is incredibly frustrating to have to spear exactly the right pixel in order to get something done on the GUI. The original Mac had this right. Gnome used to get this right. What is it with GUI designers that they think pixel spearing is OK? It's like trying to thread a needle some times.
