  True, but it means gene death, which is arguably worse. Physiologically, ostracism is indistinguishable from physical torture, particularly during the reproductive years [0]. Sustained long enough, this can make people act in strange and unpredictable ways, as if in death throes. The Elliot Rodger case comes to mind.     If you don't eat food and you die, you're still gene dead. You haven't solved that problem. Besides, there are brilliant minds that have had a bigger impact on the world and created a legacy stronger than most of the gene undead.
