But I can hate on Obama and the democratic party and the Chinese can't do the same against the Communist party. Functionally I don't know how being able to criticize the government actually changes anything. In terms of corruption or abuse, the Chinese government is more than happy to listen. It's just when you starting hating on the only party that is allowed to exist that they have a problem with you for the potential of causing social unrest. How much functional difference that makes in my opinion is not much.
