Ask HN: Any advice/thoughts on creating an Advisory Board?

I've been reading up on putting together an Advisory Board, trying to grow my business. Would welcome advice/thoughts/perspective from anyone who has done this before. Especially on the selection process & handling compensation. Thanks in advance!
