In the Euro-area, for the important economic decisions, there is not democratic control by design. In fact, I think that the situation is worse in Europe that in the States. The members of the Euro have very limited capacity of action because they have lost control of monetary policy to "higher" authorities. TTIP will have a similar effect, democratic governments constrained by rules sets in treaties almost impossible to change. My personal opinion is that this is the real goal of TTIP.
