This article raises important questions and observations. I've lived in Austin, DC, and Silicon Valley. I've met Joah (the author), and I wish him, his company, and anyone like him good luck! Given that VC's often move as a herd (more or less; e.g. seeking signals from others before acting), there is a hurdle to cross. Perhaps it would be better for Austin and companies there if VC's were a bit more numerous, diverse, and willing to act first. By 'diverse' I mean all senses of the word; in particular, covering more industries, models, and risk preferences.
