Why can the FBI just create a modified operating system?
I haven't seen this question answered anywhere.
- theandrewbailey 11y agoIt needs to be signed by Apple in order for it to be loaded.
- an_account 11y agoWhy couldn't the FBI subpoena Apple's signing key? That way the FBI isn't asking Apple to create any software, it's only asking for something that already exists. Obviously that would be bad for Apple and computer security in general, but is there precedent that prevents it?
