Funny thing is there are a lot of sites that just republish the SO post. Also, there's the reverse where you find a really good blog post in an SO answer.

I almost never do this. I read the snippets to get the idea of why they would work which helps me understand the problem better.

It's even better when the library/framework you're using is open source so you can just look at what the code is doing vs. what they say it's doing.
