All control is always sold to users and citizens under the guise of security. Governments do this, companies do this. In this case, we also know that Apple's control of users' devices has another motive: having the final say over what kind of 3rd party software users are allowed to use and install. Apple uses this control to censor apps that they deem inappropriate or directly compete with their own software, amongst other inscrutable whims.
