Given the powers and size of the national security budget and the NSAs in particular, why do they need Apple? Shouldnt the NSA be able to crack this on their own?
Kinda makes ya wonder what all that moneys spent on...
- moonshinefe 11y agoThey can get the info they want with more sophisticated techniques from what I've read. Also, Apple already gave them the iCloud backups. The legal precedent of forcing companies to break their own security for the FBI's sake is the prize at hand here it seems.
- mirimir 11y agoWell, they'd arguably need the certificate that Apple uses for signing updates. That's well-protected, I trust. There's also the issue that Apple software is closed-source. But that's presumably less problematic.
