I'm the CEO of Gravitational, AMA about transitioning from single-cloud SaaS model to launching an Enterprise on-prem version, or going multi-region/international.
- mwcampbell 11y agoHow does Gravitational package software for on-prem deployment? Does the customer need to work with Docker directly, or do they get a VM image?
- twakefield 11y agoWe help the vendor make their application compatible with containers (Docker or others) and Kubernetes[0] which is an important underlying technology behind the platform. [0] http://kubernetes.io/ http://kubernetes.io/
- koolba 11y agoHow much does it cost? (I don't see any pricing information on your website) Is the business model taking over the management of on site SaaS applications? If so, what's the difference between this and outsourcing maintenance (i.e devops) of your application to a third party?
- twakefield 11y agoWe don't have standard pricing, yet. Right now, it is priced on a case-by-case basis after discussing requirements with the customer. Our objective is to enable operators (whether the operators are at the software vendor or at third parties) to maintain applications across many environments, effectively. Once the application is ported, operations becomes much more efficient and increases the odds of success if a third party is operating it.

- davidjgraph 11y agoHow do you get a common API for storage and user management between the two models? Any docs?
- old-gregg 11y agoTake a look at Kubernetes Volumes [1], this is what we use to abstract away storage. There's nothing special to do on your end, we'll port your application to use volumes during onboarding. - aslakhellesoy 11y agoHow does Gravitational compare to Replicated (http://www.replicated.com http://www.replicated.com)?
- alexk 11y agoThe best part with Gravitational is that you don't need to "migrate" to our platform. We port your application deployment to work with Google Kubernetes. As long as the app works on Kubernetes it works with us too on AWS, Google cloud compute and bare metal servers.
