I was curious what viewpoints more technically-inclined perspectives might provide. On initial reading, it felt like the CEO was convinced of the initiative by a consulting group (the major hint was the estimate on allowable attrition rates of 30%) and didn't feel very feasible (who has done this successfully before with 250,000 employees?).
The piece of the article I did like was how it inspired some of the employees to learn more - the initiative gives them an outlet to be challenged academically in a way they might not get with their day-to-day jobs.
