  Not only that, they can reject the renewal application for the green card. They rarely do, but they can.

  That's odd. How do you prove you are a citizen to a police officer who thinks you're a green card holder? I assume American citizens don't have to carry papers. It's also mad that it takes 6 months to renew. It takes 3 weeks to renew my British passport, less if you pay extra.

    Takes a week to renew my Fiji passport. 3 days if you pay more.
