They already can do something about it. They can actually teach their children how the world works, how to react to various situations, why blindly believing strangers is a bad idea, and maybe even (gasp) limit what their children are permitted to access on the internet! Shocking ideas, I know. It is not a government's job to raise children - nor should it ever be.
