Indiana is heck of a long way from Trinity, and Trinity was an Atomic Bomb with far less fallout than a Hydrogen Bomb. So while the latter clearly caused health problems for Americans, I'm skeptical of the claims that photos were affected by Trinity.
- grkvlt 11y agoSo, you're suggesting it was one of the many other atomic bomb tests carried out in 1945? The article (and other related information I've read in many sources on the Manhattan projects) is pretty clear about the connection. Fallout got into the Corn being grown in Indiana, which was then used to make packing material for Kodak, that fogged the film...
- cjensen 11y agoNo, I'm suggesting the timeline is wrong and the fogging either is apocryphal or occurred later during hydrogen testing.,
- ChuckMcM 11y agoYou would need to look at the weather patterns. As it turns out there is a reasonably steady movement of atmosphere diagonally up and to the right from the gulf of California into Maine. If you have been watching this year's weather you can see it in action. What is more salient is that moist air coming up from the Gulf of California begins to condense out into rain in the plains. The transport mechanism is fairly well understood and well documented. That said, the film was susceptible because it was packed with corn husks over an extended period of time. The combination of sensitivity, and extended exposure, led to the film fogging.
