For us it was the "provisional license" prior to 18. That said, in my house it didn't matter. Dad was old school and according to him, me getting a license would make his car insurance go up (which I would have to cover) but I wouldn't be allowed to drive his car because he depended on it to get to work and couldn't risk his punk-ass son messing it up.
