I've been a business traveler for over 20 years and the average price I've paid for a coast to coast flight in the last 5 years is less than the previous 15. The perks have gone down but think about how cheap jet fuel was 20 years ago. I suspect the competition in the airline business has been less stable with the discount flyers that have started up. There has certainly been more consolidation.
