Dreaming in Code - Andy Hertzfeld Quotes
- TheTarquin 19y agoNice! I especially like the first one about getting it working and THEN making it great. Brings to mind in a round-about way Knuth's comments on premature optimization being the root of all evil. And it's very, very true. Marginally OT: has anyone read the book these are from, "Dreaming in Code"? If so, is it good?
- cstejerean 19y agoI really enjoyed reading it. I recommended it to a fee friends and thry liked it as well. I would highly recommend it.
- TheTarquin 19y agoGreat! Thanks for the feedback.
- pstuart 19y agoI'm almost done reading it. It is rather depressing to see all that talent and time go to waste.
- jamesbritt 19y agoIt made me think of teen horror flicks, where someone is about to do something Really Bad ("I'll go by myself and check the attic; be right back!") and you want to yell out, "No! No! Don't do that!" because you know what's going to happen.
- TheTarquin 19y agoOuch. I take it things don't go well in the "quest for transcendent software" that the books marketing copy references?
- eugenejen 19y agoSorry for being picky. But it is Andy Hertzfeld. The z is missed in title.
- rams 19y agoFixed, thanks.
