I don't think there's an easy way to do it, you've just got to push through the awkwardness. I have one piece of advice. Change the keyboard layout on your phone to whatever you're learning (Colemak in my case). I memorised the layout pretty quickly thanks to that. (Building up the muscle memory is another story.)
