We've had industrial automation, computers, and the internet for decades now, and people still have jobs. Also why would you want someone remote-controlling your car instead of sitting in the drivers seat? Wireless connectivity is way too flaky. Tunnels block the signal, rural areas have poor coverage, and equipment breaks and requires maintenance. It would be insanity to bet your life on a cellular signal.
