I can't speak about the transaction aspect, but the banning of the €500 note is an old idea. Most regular folks do not use that note period. So much so that occasionally you hear the nickname "binladens" for the €500 note.

- 27182818284 11y agoGiven its nickname, I think they wouldn't guess it counterfeit as much as dirty like money from drugs, etc
