Does anyone know what exactly is meant by the claim that the new Active Record is, "built on top of relational algebra", particularly in light of the fact that not even RDBMS are strictly relational algebra?
- petercooper 17y agoSee http://github.com/rails/arel http://github.com/rails/arel for examples of it.
- kingkilr 17y agoInteresting, thanks.
- jackseviltwin 17y agoAlso a blog post from the author about Arel here: http://magicscalingsprinkles.wordpress.com/2010/01/28/why-i-wrote-arel/ http://magicscalingsprinkles.wordpress.com/2010/01/28/why-i-...
- RobertL 17y agoI'm not a developer but the guys in the shop are saying that the new active record is a lot different... but, man, I can't remember all the buzz words... I'll ask them about it tomorrow. They were excited about it today though. They were loading and testing and playing with it and they seem to like what they see so far. Now I remember.. it's "Data Mappr" or something close.. That's what replaces (or will replace) active record in RoR Ver. 3.0.
- subbu 17y agoPratik Naik does a pretty good round up of the new AR here http://m.onkey.org/2010/1/22/active-record-query-interface http://m.onkey.org/2010/1/22/active-record-query-interface
