No - the side that has a sense of humour.
- ricksplat 11y agoand I've been to New York, Boston and Cancun you can't tell me there isn't binge drinking over there too. sap.
- ricksplat 11y agoWhile I'm at it: http://www.newyorker.com/news/john-cassidy/why-is-the-death-rate-rising-among-middle-aged-white-americans http://www.newyorker.com/news/john-cassidy/why-is-the-death-...
- pstuart 11y agoThis is a lot of butthurt for getting smacked down for a stupid joke. Let it go. Save your jokes for reddit. Edit: slur? WTF?
- ricksplat 11y agosave the slurs for reddit too
- pstuart 11y agoLook, kid, you must be new here so I'll explain what's going on. HN frowns upon commentary that does not add to the discussion, e.g., jokes. In this case your joke was dismissive of a drug that holds promise for a lot of people (including some that I know). It has a stigma that it has to overcome to be used medically and your joke just piled on the stigma with an implicit snobbery that practically begged for a comeuppance. There was no /s appended so it could only be taken at face value. You got down votes and double-downed by saying it worth it. Was it? The community disapproved of your comment and you cheekily said, in effect, "fuck you, I'd do it again" Then you tried to school me on the fact that alcohol abuse occurs all over the world, as well as drug abuse in the States. Sorry to burst your bubble, but I'm well aware of it. You called me a sap and then accuse me of a slur? For saying you were acting butthurt? You were. We've all done it, so I claim no moral superiority here. And finally, to return to my initial reply to you: reports have shown that binge drinking is a health issue but it's tolerated because it's the one recreational drug that is legal. Perhaps if cannabis, MDMA, K and others were legal than people might be able to enjoy themselves with less harm.

- pstuart 11y agoThank you for taking the time out to join our conversation. I hope it was worth it.
- md224 11y agoSome people just don't understand the importance of psychoactive drugs. It's sad.
- pstuart 11y agoAgreed. Some people don't understand the value of dialog as well. It's a pity, because that's the real value of HN.
- ricksplat 11y agoHahahahaha - "some people" - I'll have you know I've more experience with psychoactive drugs than you'll ever be able to understand. I've even been "in the K-hole" - TFA presented Ketamine as an erstwhile party drug, which it is, and in that context the saying goes "Only Fools and Horses" which refers to the fact that it is a horse tranquilizer and the level of wisdom involved in its use in a recreational setting. "Only Fools and Horses" is also a popular British sitcom (and turn of phrase) hence the Atlantic reference you humourless self-agrandising twit.
- pstuart 11y agoI see that it's done wonders for you. Edit: don't be so sure of your experience trumping mine. I think your humor needs needs work, because if you have to explain a joke you've failed.
