the main problem with 2-pin US NEMA-1 plug is its asymmetry of the blades, they have exactly the same thickness but with different width, I often make a mistake when I try to plug it in, if you rotate the plug and if you push hard, the plug fits in but the blade gets damaged. Australian ones are better, they have thin blades but wont go into socket if you rotate the plug.
