I worked in a lab with a professor who spent a portion of time training new graduate students to be creative again (tons of handouts on it and so on). It can be taught to some degree; our brains don't just stop changing completely in adulthood (its just harder). Also 8/2000 got Nobel prizes? Thats some pretty good odds.
