It's an ancient system that locks in tons of useful empirical data and rots the roots of science with its publish-or-perish/impact factor lunacy. It's also a sector (digital publishing) which YC knows well and can easily make a great contribution. This can be a game changer, as it can alter the way public funding is allocated.
