The cranking and possible mechanical problems with that seem to be the disadvantage. I have found the Varidesk (http://varidesk.com/ http://varidesk.com/) to be quite satisfactory. It sits on top of your normal desk and is adjustable in seconds. (I just own one; don't work for or have investment in the company that makes it.)
