Interestingly. Our (minimal) traffic to github shifted transit carriers when this outage happened. Between 2016-01-28 00:39:47+00 and 2016-01-28 00:43:26+00 there was a flurry of BGP updates that caused that. I'm not sure on the exact timing of the outage, this could either be a symptom or a cause.
