Things to note about 10x developers: I have only been able to group developers into the following categories: - not competent - competent - competent + problem focused I would never hire non-compitent developers. They suck. They make terrible decisions and code. They are many. I would be careful hiring competent developers. In fact a competent developer is usually a junior developer who needs proper mentoring. I would push hard for getting that developer above competent. The last type of developer is the golden goose. They can code, but they are focused on solving problems NOT writing code. They focus on what problems need solving, can they be solved later, what is the price of solving such problems. All that while being competent at making code. So thinking of someone as 10x or 0.1x is an error IMO.
