- david927 11y agoYour instincts are good here. Remember that FB/Google have deep connections to the US government three-letter agencies -- the CIA's VC arm, for example, is an early investor in FB. So what's going on is that they want to do AI research and instead of recruiting directly, they recruit AI/ML researchers to Google, FB, Palantir, etc. And note, they're not doing it to make everyone happy. They're doing for the reasons you might surmise. Your instincts to be concerned are correct.
