Show HN: Straightforward and easy internationalization for the server and the browser
- fiatjaf 11y agoAll this internationalization is stupid, and stupefies people. It's much better to read in English instead of a really really bad idiot translation. Even if you don't know the source language, it is better to do not read anything at all than to read these translations. Even when the translation is written by humans, the quality of their work is shameful -- and I have voluntarily translated many MDN articles in the past, which I regret every time I enter an MDN article and it is forcefully written in portuguese.
- grvcoelho 11y agoI think you didn't understand the idea of the project and the concept of i18n. These translations can help you not only to translate to other languages but to translate to English as well by creating patterns of messages. For instance, instead of writing 'There has been a server error' every single time in multiple files, you can translate 'SERVER_ERROR' to what you want. This way, the messages are going to be consistent across the application. ;)
- detaro 11y agoNo Internationalization is not stupid. A lot of people do it cheaply/stupidly (machine translated help texts come to mind), and there are a lot of products where you can get by with just an english version, but there is a justified demand for it.
- Raed667 11y agoMany people can't read English, or can't read it well enough to use it in their daily apps. Screw them right?
