Ask HN: What are your pain points using templates to build websites?

I always came away disappointed trying to build simple sites with templates on popular site-building sites such as WordPress, Wix, and Weebly. I find the templates hard to integrate, hard to customize, and lacking in diversity. Also, I thought templates could be used in place of most plugins for a more accessible site-building/maintenance experience.
