What if the cop feel threat to his life by your long speech and verbal resistance?
- emcrazyone 11y agoI don't recite that. I have it printed on a piece of card stock about the size of a business card and I hand it to them along with my driver's license, proof of insurance, and registration. I simply tell the officer I am exercising my right to remain silent as I hand him/her these items - then I shut up. I've only used it once and it seem to work. So I guess I can say I have one data point where it was used. My attorney friend has this printed on his business card and this is the advice he gave me - to do the same.
- fernly 11y ago"printed on ... a business card" -- at what point size? That's a lot of text!
- barsonme 11y agoWell, s/he forgot the part where you hand the officer a magnifying glass as well.
- res0nat0r 11y agoYou can refuse a breathalyzer if you want in the state where I live, but by doing that your license is automatically suspended for a year.
- DugFin 11y agoHe's only declining FIELD sobriety tests. I know of no state that automatically pulls licenses for refusal to play along with a FIELD sobriety test.
