This is very misleading -- it tries to hold mathematics responsible for what in fact was a mixture of superficial mathematical reasoning and an inability to grasp that the mathematical models had little to do with reality. It was an example of using mathematics to conceal rather than reveal. If the mathematical model doesn't accurately model reality, don't blame the math, blame the mathematician.
