Amazon makes it very easy to transition data from S3 to Glacier. But, if you want to get it back, you will still have to go through all of the byzantine Glacier rules and fees, including the 4-hour wait. And, there is no "transition from Glacier to S3": if you want to do that, you have to: 1. restore it to S3 (and incur the fees and 4-hour wait) 2. copy the restored S3 object to a new S3 object 3. delete the restored object (or wait for it to timeout)
