- natch 11y agoNo, it's not necessary at all, I hope. I probably should have called them just "Par2" files not Par2 checksum files. They aren't just checksums. They allow reconstruction of the original file even after fairly extensive damage. Which isn't likely, so, yes, not strictly necessary, but who knows, could be useful in the what-if scenario.
