My guess: Hit the target, leg broke, rocket tipped over, then exploded. Especially when empty, the main structure is very fragile - having the side hit the bar

My guess: Hit the target, leg broke, rocket tipped over, then exploded.
Especially when empty, the main structure is very fragile - having the side hit the barge would almost certainly rupture it, resulting in a boom.
