The article says they're using RAIDZ2
- unethical_ban 11y agoI stand corrected; I see that now. The HN submission is in error, then.
- SirMaster 11y agoWhy is it in error? It's 6x6=36TB. Parity is still storing data. Who says the data storage total number has to be for only user data? My ZFS pool is 12x4TB in RAIDZ2 and when I query zpool list I get: name size alloc free tank 43.5T 25.3T 18.2T The size reported by ZFS itself is 43.5TiB which is close to the 48TB that 12x4TB is.
- unethical_ban 11y agoEh. I suppose. When any of my friends discuss NAS size, we quote it in "usable space". So you have a 40TB usable NAS. I have a 4TB usable NAS with 4x2TB in RAIDZ2.
