Pretty much everyone justifies the things that they really want to do.
And if they really want to do illicit or unethical things, they still do it (and justify it) as long as they don't think they will get caught.
This is one reason looting happens during a disaster.
This is why people cheat on their taxes.
- TeMPOraL 11y agoYeah, and if we're discussing unethical things people justify to themselves, let's not forget that we do rationalize advertising. Which is doubly relevant here, because it's the heavy-handed advertising that makes our culture so tightly connected to commercial works of art.
- frogpelt 11y agoAre you not a fan of commercial works of art? Also, I think you are conflating entertainment with art. They are not the same in my opinion.
