IMO: It's not a threat to humanity, but it is scary. It's scary because our entire economic model is based on supply and demand (I'm simplifying, I know that's not completely true). With things like 3d printers, that model no longer makes sense because the supply = infinity. We're entering a post-scarcity society, and I'm super-excited. I hope it comes sooner rather than later, but there are going to be some significant growing pains as we re-adjust.
