This is fixable. Lots of companies try to become platforms that shouldn't. Evernote IMO is in the opposite group. It's basically a database for my mind. They should package their core offering (notes + notebooks + tags, ie. a text-editor w/ dynamic file system) into a sleek, simple product. And then build an ecosystem of add-ons people can choose from that are tailored to the many different ways people can use Evernote. This also enables experimentation, without messing with the core experience.
