Making robots with Segways was actually a thing at least around 2004-2006. Robocup is a robotics soccer league with several divisions that each have a different kind of challenge. Briefly, there was a Segway league. Each team had a single robotic Segway and a single human driven Segway which had to cooperate to score goals on the other team. Here's the page of one of the teams with pictures and videos of the Segway robots in action: http://www.nsi.edu/~nomad/segway/ http://www.nsi.edu/~nomad/segway/
