It may have something to do with the iPhone's aspect ratio and UI. I have small hands and my 6S (not 6S Plus) is indeed too big; however I find the LG G3 (which has a bigger screen IIRC) quite usable one-handed.
Maybe that's because of Android's UI, where the back button and app switcher are easily reachable with one's thumb, towards the bottom of the screen. I still haven't mastered the art of using one-handed 3D touch to invoke the iOS app-switcher -- I have to use my other hand or double-press the home button.
