  Because Google was playing dirty after not wanting to pay Sun what they were asking for.

    Why should they pay for using something that is free and open source?

      Because back then it was only free when targeting desktop and servers, not embedded devices. Also the license requires that all of Java is taken, not cutting down pieces as they feel like.
