  The "we already tried that" argument throws all the non state-capitalist ideas down the toilet with Soviet central planning though (it does belong there, of course, but so does American capitalism). There's a pretty wide range of ideas between anarchism and social-democratic capitalism that aren't included in the false binary of US/USSR models.
