It's an interesting idea and one that I find to be true, but also complicated. We're also trained as programmers not to reinvent wheels poorly. Or not install a library to do something that is already supported by an existing library you're already using. When you need to do something like, say, open a new browser window, it's not that surprising to find a lot of posts about how to do it with jquery. I don't find it always bad. As long as you understand that you are using a library, it's ok to go searching for its edges.
