Thanks a lot; I really appreciate it. And re: the post title, thanks for the tip—it seems "journal" has even more meanings than I thought! I wanted to avoid "diary," which in my experience often has childish connotations. Perhaps the awkward-sounding "friendship log" is the best descriptor...
