Löve is not a German or Swiss German word, so the umlaut is simply gratuitious.
(Other languages such as Dutch or French use diacritics to mark a vowel as not-dipthongised, but that doesn't apply here either.)
- xorcist 11y agoIf it's not German it's gratuitious? I'll try not to take that as an insult to speakers of Swedish, Finnish, Icelandic, Estonian, Hungarian, Turkish, and any of the other dozen languages which make use of the character.
