I was pretty rude in the other comment and now it's too late to edit it. Thanks for offering your perspective, it's cool to hear from someone close to that situation; and it's cool to hear the perspective of a non-engineer, non-business person in Silicon Valley.

No worries :) It is an important point that companies incentives are not always aligned with workers and government has a role to play in making sure they are protected.
