This is very close the experience I had. My MIL still turns the z-wave lights off wrong (she dims them to 0 instead of turning them off). Low and behold there is no way for me to 'fix' this. Dim 0 should equal off, but it doesn't. I have to dim them back up.
I still have all the z-wave stuff, including the thermostats, but sometimes they "die". When a z-wave light switch dies I replace it with an old school switch.
I'm not even going to get into the Nabaztag debacle. Door Stop.
It ended up being my best bet to buy a Green Building Advisor membership, watch some videos; and then seal up all the air leaks in the basement. Magic, a warm house with lower bills.
